Cheap Jimenez 9MM

At my Pawnshop friend's place he sells firearms, (Guy is gun nut what can I say) he has Jimenez 9mm for $159 with a special for $129, makes me shake my head, where's the quality?

I don't have a good feeling about these things but my gut tells me it junk.

What say the jury?

There are many different reasons to own a particular handgun.

Lots of things to consider and trade-offs on different models.

However if it ain't reliable pass it by. At this price I would consider it nothing but a fancy rock to beat someone with.

With these you load it, cock it and then throw it like a grenade.

Depends what you want if for. I bought the cheapest 22 I could find years ago. Best gun I ever bought. I had coyotes after my dogs, I shot and presumably hit each time and haven't seen a coyote in years around my place. I'm' so confident that the problem has been fixed, I haven't slipped it into my pocket for over a year.

If one is looking for a cheap 9mm, the much maligned Hi-Points are a better choice. I do have experience with these in 9mm and .40 cal. Went shooting with a friend that had both calibers. The look and feel like a brick, but shot flawlessly and fairly accurately through several hundred rounds. That cured me of Hi Point snobbery, but YMMV.

I think these cheap saturday night specials have some value.
Like if you have to shoot someone, you can stick one of these in the perp's cold lifeless hand before the popo gets there.

From the article:

This is a terrible gun. It was manufactored by Jimenez Arms, the name given to Bryco/Jennings/god knows what other name after a lawsuit and the Bryco name claimed bankruptcy.

Bryco is to reliability what prostitution is to virginity.

Jimenez = Raven = Jennings = Bryco

They changed the name to Jimenez when they moved to NV. They didn't change the quality.

My brother bought a cheap .22 Jennings pistol at a gun show, I don't think the damn thing has ever fired a whole clip without jamming. They suck.

Like Hi-Points.. they are crap.

Suck it up, spend $300-500, and get a decent quality handgun.

A good, quality gun, if taken care of, can be handed down to your child, and their child, and their child, etc.

When you look at it like that, it's really worth the extra couple hundred bucks.

The cheapest gun I'd consider is the Arcus 94 or 98. Just slightly over $300(used to be less), they are basically a knock off Browning High Power. The 98 uses the S&W DA system, but both still take surplus BHP magazines(available in 15/17/20 rds).

One of the best buys out there for a handgun.
